Rachel Keller
Rachel Keller is a fictional character in The Ring film series. The character was created by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist in The Ring and The Ring Two and shares a lot of similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the original Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist trying to figure out a way to escape death after having watched a cursed video tape that she discovers while investigating the death of her niece. Rachel has to look into the past of Samara Morgan her son in The Ring Two. Ruth Rachel's sister is adamant Rachel to inquire into the mysterious reasons behind Katie's sudden demise. She tells Rachel that she found the body of her daughter's deformed corpse in the closet and that the cause of Katie's death was a heart attack, even though Katie being healthy and healthy as a teenager. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend behind the cursed tape and Katie's friend Becca was placed in an institution following Katie's passing. Katie's boyfriend as well as her two friends were killed in bizarre accidents that same night around 10 midnight. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she stays in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one where Katie and her friends stayed in when they saw the cursed tape. Rachel discovers the tape after which the phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel seeks assistance from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Rachel learns later that Aidan (her son who is with Noah) looked at the tape and said that he believed her. Rachel examines the tape in order to determine the place of the lighthouse. It was on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan was a horse breeder cursed, appeared on the tape. When she investigates, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara, who possessed the ability to create disturbing images in the minds of individuals including animals, people and even objects. Rachel is forced to flee Anna's widower Richard when she begins asking questions about Samara.
