Cynthia Ann Crawford, born 20 February 1966 was an American model, actress and TV personality. In the 80s and 90s, she was a well-known supermodel who was prominent on runways and magazines, and also in fashion campaigns. In the following years, she started acting and began a business. In her sophomore year at high school, she got an inquiry from a local store regarding modeling work which she later discovered was a prank played by two of her classmates. Crawford was contacted by a different store the following year to do a modeling job for them. Also, they had a fashion shoot. In her junior year local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included photographing a college girl to be that week's coed for the DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to shoot her photo for the publication; the result was her first ever cover. Her enthusiastic feedback and the photo inspired her to get modeling. She began with a small agency. Elite Model Management bought the agency shortly after signing. In 1983, she was a participant in Elite's Look of the Year contest at age 17 and won the national finals.
